Brightstorm - Session 19 - Word Workshop
English Resource Description
The Brightstorm Word Workshop is an interactive session designed to enhance vocabulary skills among KS2 students. In Session 19, students are provided with a series of words to explore in depth. For each word, they are asked to define its meaning(s), use it in a sentence, and modify it by adding prefixes or suffixes, changing its number or tense. Additionally, they are encouraged to identify synonyms - words with similar meanings - and antonyms - words with opposite meanings. This comprehensive approach not only broadens their vocabulary but also deepens their understanding of word usage and grammar.
Words such as 'cautiously', 'obvious', 'impatient', 'lingering', 'dwell', 'located', 'furious', 'legacy', 'restore', 'assumed', 'occurring', and 'enormous' are part of the workshop, each representing a different word class. Students are prompted to think creatively and analytically as they engage with each word. By the end of the session, participants will have not only expanded their vocabulary but also honed their skills in language manipulation and comprehension, which are essential for effective communication and literacy development.
