Spelling - oy

This educational resource is designed to help children in identifying and using the 'oy' sound in various words. The presentation begins by displaying yellow slides on the whiteboard, which include pictures of words such as 'boy', 'joy', 'toy', 'cowboy', and several others that all contain the 'oy' sound. Teachers are encouraged to sound out these words with the class, prompting the children to blend and say each word aloud. This auditory exercise is aimed at reinforcing the recognition of the 'oy' sound within different contexts. Additionally, white slides are provided as printable activity sheets that can be used in place of exercise books if necessary.

Through a series of interactive activities, the children are taught to identify the two letters that make up the 'oy' sound. They are then guided to practise reading words containing this sound. One of the activities includes adding sound buttons—dots for single sounds and dashes for combined sounds—to words, helping children visually break down the phonetics.
