Romeo & Juliet Lesson 21: Got the Plot? - The Story so Far Worksheet
English Resource Description
As part of exploring Shakespeare's classic tragedy "Romeo and Juliet," students are provided with a worksheet that summarises the events of Act Two, where they are tasked with filling in the missing words to complete the narrative. The worksheet begins with Romeo stealthily retreating from his friends to conceal himself in the orchard beneath Juliet's window. Unaware of his presence, Juliet emerges and openly expresses her affection for Romeo. Romeo then reveals himself, and the pair exchange declarations of love and make a pact to marry.
The following day, Romeo confides his intentions to marry Juliet to Friar Laurence, who consents to assist the young couple, hopeful that their union might reconcile their feuding families. Subsequently, Romeo rendezvous with his friends Mercutio and Benvolio, and Juliet's Nurse seeks him out with a message. Romeo instructs the Nurse to arrange for Juliet to meet him at Friar Laurence's cell where they will be wed. Anxiously awaiting the Nurse's return, Juliet is kept in suspense before the Nurse eventually divulges the particulars of Romeo's plan. The act culminates with Juliet and Romeo meeting at Friar Laurence's, where he solemnly marries them, cautioning them to love moderately.
