The Home Learning Pack centred around the sound 'ss' provides a structured approach for children to enhance their spelling abilities. The pack contains differentiated spelling lists, each featuring a set of words that share the common 'ss' sound, such as 'miss', 'pass', 'kiss', 'press', 'boss', 'stress', 'fuss', 'hissed', 'hiss', and 'dress'. To further challenge the learners, a challenge word 'baldness' is included. The lists also offer blank boxes for any additional words that educators might want to include for extended learning.

Accompanying the spelling lists are interactive activities designed to reinforce learning. One such activity is 'Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check', which encourages students to study the word, memorise it, cover it, attempt to write it from memory, and then check their work for accuracy, allowing space for corrections if necessary. Furthermore, the pack includes a 'Read and Match' exercise, prompting children to match words to pictures or definitions and use them in sentences.
