Show it! Group presentation - Great Fire of London - Year 2

In the culminating phase of learning about the Great Fire of London, Year 2 students are encouraged to showcase their understanding by presenting to their classmates. This presentation serves as an interactive and engaging way for children to consolidate their knowledge and communicate the lessons learned from this historical event. The presentation can take various forms, with one option being a staff-created PowerPoint that reflects the ongoing learning journey of the class.

To facilitate a comprehensive and collaborative learning experience, children are organised into small groups of no more than six. Each group selects a specific topic related to the Great Fire of London, such as Samuel Pepys, the firefighting equipment used in 1666, the modern firefighting tools of today, the landscape of London during the time of the fire, or how London has evolved since then. Through these presentations, students explore the changes over time and the advancements made in fire safety and urban development. This activity not only reinforces historical facts but also encourages public speaking and teamwork among the young learners.
