Show it! Group presentation - Slavery- Year 5

"Slavery" is a term that carries with it a heavy and painful history, and understanding it is crucial for students in Year 5. To facilitate this understanding, children are encouraged to engage in a group presentation towards the end of their learning journey on the topic. This presentation serves as an opportunity for them to showcase their knowledge and insights on the subject to their classmates. Presentations can be executed in various formats, and sometimes staff may assist by creating a PowerPoint presentation that encapsulates the ongoing learning for the class to view.

For a more interactive approach, children are prompted to form small groups, with no more than six members, to work collaboratively on their presentations. They have the option to explore a range of subtopics related to slavery, which include the harsh realities of sugar plantations, the impactful work of William Wilberforce, the harrowing transporting of slaves across the seas, the experiences of African slaves, and the historical involvement of Britain in slavery. Each group can select one of these themes to delve into, creating an informative and thought-provoking presentation that begins with a respectful greeting and an introduction to the subject matter they have chosen to "SHOW IT!" to their peers.
