Show it! Group presentation - Islamic Civilisation - Year 5

In a Year 5 classroom exploring the early Islamic civilisation, students are given the opportunity to delve into why this period is often referred to as the Golden Age. Towards the end of their learning journey, they are encouraged to present their findings to their peers in a dynamic and engaging manner. This presentation can take various forms and may even include a staff-created PowerPoint to support the children's ongoing learning and facilitate the sharing of knowledge within the class.

The children are organised into small groups, with a maximum of six members per group, to foster collaboration and in-depth research. Each group is tasked with creating a presentation on a specific topic related to the early Islamic civilisation's Golden Age. The topics range from the era itself, the life and impact of Prophet Muhammad, the renowned House of Wisdom, advancements in medicine during that time, to the history of the Mongolian invaders. By engaging in this group work, the students not only consolidate their understanding but also develop their presentation skills as they begin their exposition with a confident "Good Morning, I would like to tell you about…" This collaborative activity is designed to bring history to life and allow students to 'show' their knowledge in a creative and informative way.
