Cops and robbers - What do you know about the Anglo-Saxons?

The "Cops and robbers" activity is an engaging educational exercise designed to enhance pupils' knowledge about the Anglo-Saxons in an interactive and collaborative manner. In groups of four, each pupil begins by spending two minutes to jot down everything they can recall about the topic on the left side of a table. This initial phase allows students to organise their thoughts and set the foundation for the learning activity.

Following this, each pupil is given 60 seconds to review the contributions made by their peers, looking specifically for information that they had not previously noted in their own recall. This step encourages careful observation and the sharing of knowledge within the group. After reviewing the work of others, students have the opportunity to add any new information they have 'stolen' to the 'stolen knowledge' section of their table. Each piece of information recorded is awarded two points, incentivising pupils to learn from one another. The entire activity is designed to last approximately 15 minutes, providing a quick and interactive way to deepen their understanding of how Britain evolved from the end of Roman occupation to the year 1066, with a particular focus on the Anglo-Saxon period.
