Other Properties of Materials - Objectives Labels
Science Resource Description
In Lesson 1.6 titled "Stretchy and Bouncy Materials," learners embark on a journey to deepen their understanding of the materials that make up the world around them. The objectives of the lesson are clear and multifaceted. Students will begin by identifying and naming common materials such as wood, plastic, glass, metal, water, and rock. They will then proceed to compare and group these materials based on their simple physical properties, which they will also describe in detail. An important distinction will be made between objects and the materials they are composed of, helping learners grasp the concept that objects are made from a variety of materials with distinct properties.
To gauge their understanding, students will answer reflective questions that encourage them to connect the physical features of materials to their properties. They will also be challenged to suggest suitable materials for creating objects based on these properties. This approach not only tests their knowledge but also stimulates critical thinking and practical application. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to confidently link material properties to their uses and demonstrate an ability to make informed choices when it comes to selecting materials for specific purposes.
