The Even Bigger Times Table Challenge 4
Maths Resource Description
The Even Bigger Times Table Challenge 4 is an intense and engaging mathematical exercise aimed at Year 5 students to test and improve their multiplication and division skills. This challenge, created by KS2Gems in 2020, requires students to complete a total of 100 arithmetic problems within a five-minute time frame. The questions are a mix of multiplication, division, and square number calculations, designed to assess the rapid recall of times tables and related mathematical concepts. Students are encouraged to write down the time taken if they complete the challenge in less than five minutes, allowing them to track their progress and aim for improvement.
The worksheet encompasses a wide array of problems including basic multiplications like 8 x 8, squares such as 16², and divisions like 108 ÷ 10. It also tests the students' understanding of larger calculations, for instance, 20 x 30, and smaller decimal divisions like 99 ÷ 1000. To successfully tackle the challenge, students must not only be quick but also accurate with their arithmetic. Upon completion of the challenge, students can record their score out of 100, providing a clear indicator of their proficiency in handling numbers. This exercise serves as an excellent tool for teachers to assess the numerical fluency of their students and for the students to enjoy a stimulating and educational activity.
