The Even Bigger Times Table Challenge 2
Maths Resource Description
The Even Bigger Times Table Challenge 2 is a comprehensive exercise aimed at Year 5 students to test their proficiency in multiplication, division, and square numbers. This challenge, created by KS2Gems in 2020, presents a series of 100 arithmetic problems that students are encouraged to complete within a five-minute timeframe. The questions cover a variety of calculations, including straightforward multiplications such as '6 x 8', to more complex square numbers like '16²', and divisions such as '320 ÷ 4'. This exercise not only reinforces times tables but also helps students to quickly recall and apply their knowledge of basic arithmetic operations.
Students are tasked with solving a mixture of problems, ranging from simple tasks like '3²' and '70 x 3', to more challenging equations including '700 x 7' and '18²'. Divisions with single and double-digit divisors, such as '96 ÷ 12' and '24 ÷ 6', are also included to test the pupils' division skills. The challenge is designed to measure speed and accuracy, with a space provided for students to record the time taken if they finish in less than five minutes. At the end of the challenge, students can tally their correct answers to achieve a score out of 100, allowing teachers and students to gauge their understanding and fluency in basic arithmetic operations.
