Four in Four - Multiplication Set E 2 digit number x 8
Maths Resource Description
The "Four in Four" multiplication activity, created by KS2Gems in 2021, is an educational exercise designed to enhance the multiplication skills of Year 3 students. This challenge requires the participants to swiftly and accurately complete four multiplication problems, each involving a two-digit number multiplied by eight, within a span of four minutes. The task is structured into ten separate sheets, each containing a unique set of calculations to be solved. To ensure a focused learning experience, the sheets are intended to be tackled one at a time, with each session offering a fresh set of numbers to multiply.
Upon completion of the multiplication sets, an answer key is provided, allowing both students and educators to verify the accuracy of the completed work. This key presents the correct results for each multiplication problem across all ten sheets. For example, on Sheet 1, the answers are 96 for 12 x 8, 112 for 14 x 8, 168 for 21 x 8, and 256 for 32 x 8. The "Four in Four" activity not only helps in reinforcing the times table for the number eight but also aids in developing quick mental arithmetic skills and the ability to perform under time constraints, both of which are critical competencies in mathematics.
