Show it! Group presentation - Grandparents - Year 1

In a Year 1 classroom, children embark on a nostalgic journey to explore what their grandparents' childhood was like. The culmination of their learning is an engaging group presentation where they showcase their findings to their classmates. The aim is to provide a window into the past, illuminating the differences and similarities between then and now. The presentation can take various forms, ranging from a staff-created PowerPoint that captures the essence of the ongoing learning, to live demonstrations by the children themselves.

Working within small groups of no more than six, the children are encouraged to delve into specific aspects of the past. They might choose to present on a range of topics such as the toys that were popular during their grandparents' youth, the storybooks that captured the imaginations of children 50 years ago, what kitchens looked like half a century ago, the music that defined the 60s and 70s, or the sports stars who were celebrated at that time. Each group takes a turn to stand before their peers and proudly begin with the words, "Good Morning, I would like to tell you about…" as they embark on a storytelling adventure that bridges generations.
