Connecting images - Old and new toys

In an engaging classroom activity designed to explore the theme of 'What was my grandparents' childhood like?', children are tasked with drawing connections between various photographs of old and new toys. The objective of the exercise is to encourage independent thinking as students pair two images together and justify the relationship between them. This could involve comparing similarities and differences, discussing the evolution of toys over time, or considering the cultural and historical contexts in which the toys were popular.

Each student is given the opportunity to demonstrate their analytical skills and creativity, with each valid connection earning them 5 points. They are allocated 10 minutes to scrutinise the photographs and develop their responses. This activity not only aids in developing critical thinking but also offers a glimpse into the past, allowing children to reflect on the changes in playthings across generations and what these changes say about societal developments and technological advancements.
