Show it! Group presentation - Castles - Year 1

In an engaging and interactive session designed for Year 1 pupils, the topic of castles is brought to life through group presentations. Children are given the chance to showcase their understanding and learning about castles by working in small groups, with no more than six in each, to prepare a presentation on various aspects of castles. The topics they can choose from include the motte and bailey design, different parts of a castle, the castles found across England, the reasons behind why castles were built, and the people who lived within these historical fortifications.

These presentations are a culmination of their learning journey and provide a platform for children to confidently communicate their knowledge to their classmates. The presentations can be delivered in diverse formats, with staff members sometimes facilitating the process by creating a PowerPoint summarising the ongoing learning for the class to share. This approach not only helps in reinforcing the children's understanding of the subject but also enhances their public speaking and teamwork skills. The children begin their presentations with a warm greeting and an introduction to their chosen topic, ready to 'show it' and share their insights into the fascinating world of castles.
