Max Maths, Year 4, Work Book, Different times of the day
Maths Resource Description
In the 'Max Maths, Year 4, Work Book', students are given the opportunity to practice telling the time and associating different times of the day with typical daily activities. Practice 3, titled 'Different times of the day', comprises two exercises aimed at reinforcing their time-telling skills. In the first exercise, students must match sentences describing daily routines to the correct time displayed on various clock faces. For example, they need to associate the time they might have lunch, do homework, have breakfast, get ready for bed, be asleep, and go to school with times such as 12:45 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 6:30 a.m., 9:30 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and 7:00 a.m. respectively.
The second exercise requires students to look at different pictures and decide on the most likely time of day each picture represents. They have to choose between options such as 10 a.m. or 10 p.m., 3 a.m. or 3 p.m., and 8 a.m. or 8 p.m., among others, to correctly identify the time of day depicted. This activity helps students to apply their knowledge of daily routines and the 24-hour cycle to real-life contexts, further developing their understanding of time and its measurement.
