In the 'Let's Practise' section of a Year 4 Max Maths Challenge, students are presented with word problems to solve. The first problem asks them to calculate the total number of attendees at the circus over two days. On Monday, 608 people attended, and on Tuesday, an additional 337 people joined in the fun. The task is to combine these figures to find out the cumulative audience for both days. The 'Maths Challenge' section presents a scenario where the zoo's visitor numbers are increasing daily. Starting with 146 visitors on Monday, the number goes up by 65 each subsequent day. Students are tasked with two questions: (a) to calculate the total number of visitors from Monday to Friday, requiring them to add the daily increase to each day's total, and (b) to determine the total number of visitors for the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, based on the pattern of increase.
