Max Maths, Year 3, Try it, Division and multiplication (2)
Maths Resource Description
In the 'Try it' section of the Max Maths Year 3 resource, students are encouraged to engage with division and multiplication by writing number sentences based on visual prompts. They are presented with a series of dots and tasked with forming four mathematical sentences for each set: two multiplication and two division equations. This exercise helps children to visualise the relationship between multiplication and division, reinforcing their understanding that these operations are inverses of each other.
The 'Let's Practise' segment provides students with practical multiplication and division problems to solve. For example, they are given the equation 2 × 5 = 10 and asked to find the missing number in the related division sentence, 10 ÷ _ = 2. This helps to solidify their grasp of the concept that multiplication and division are related operations. The problems increase in complexity, challenging students to deduce missing factors and dividends. To further their practice and understanding, students are directed to workbook pages 137 to 141, where they can find additional exercises and examples to work through.
