In a lively Year 2 Maths Challenge, students are invited to explore the relationship between consecutive units of time through a series of engaging and physical tasks. In their groups, children are asked to estimate the duration it will take them to complete a variety of activities, choosing to measure their guesses in either seconds or minutes. The tasks range from jumping on the spot 50 times to saying one's name 20 times, and from throwing and catching a ball 30 times to sitting down and standing up 25 times. They even get to sing a nursery rhyme of their choice 5 times. After making their estimates, the students then use a stopwatch to record the actual time taken to perform each task, allowing them to compare their predictions with real-time measurements.

The challenge continues with a creative twist, as the students are tasked with designing and constructing their own timers, aiming for the precise duration of 30 seconds.
