Fractions teacher instructions
Maths Resource Description
This booklet is an educational resource tailored for Year 6 students, aimed at supporting their understanding of Fractions as per the curriculum objectives. Each activity within the booklet is clearly aligned with specific learning objectives, which are indicated at the beginning of each page for easy reference. To facilitate a tailored learning experience, the activities include a list of necessary equipment and resources. The booklet is versatile, with symbols to denote whether activities are best conducted with the whole class, in smaller groups, or in pairs, allowing teachers to select the most appropriate format for their class.
Teachers have the flexibility to incorporate these activities at various stages of the lesson plan. They can be used at the start of a lesson to recap and assess prior knowledge, as the main activity to reinforce new concepts, or towards the end of a lesson to evaluate students' progress. These activities are intended to complement the existing educational materials used in schools and to enrich the current teaching provision. They are particularly beneficial for children in intervention groups who may require additional practice. The KS2Gems website also offers a range of related resources, including Fractions Target Boards, Fractions Loop Cards, Fraction Calculations Four in Four, and other Fractions Resources to further support learning objectives.
