Maths Resource Description
The 'Fluent in Four' revision activity is designed for Year 2 students as part of their Autumn Term learning in Week 10, Day 4. The exercise aims to enhance the children's mathematical fluency through a series of engaging problems. One task prompts students to perform a division calculation, asking them to divide 30 by 10. Another challenge requires the children to understand the concept of halving as they work out half of 4 and then use that to solve a problem involving the number 98. Students are also asked to construct a number sentence based on their calculations.
Another part of the activity focuses on money, encouraging students to determine the total amount by combining pounds and pence. They need to fill in the blanks with the correct sums of money. In addition, there's an exercise that helps children understand the concept of ordering numbers from the smallest to the greatest, which involves drawing counters in boxes according to given instructions. Lastly, the children are tasked with a practical application of multiplication, as they calculate the total number of wheels based on a given number of bikes. They must figure out how many groups of wheels there are and then add them together to find the total number of wheels, reinforcing their addition and multiplication skills.
