Max Maths, Year 5, Learn together, Reflection (2)
Maths Resource Description
In a Max Maths lesson for Year 5 students, the concept of reflection is explored through interactive learning. The students are presented with a set of shapes that have been reflected across a line of reflection, allowing them to observe and understand the properties of a mirror image. The lesson is designed to help students visually grasp how shapes are transformed when they are reflected, maintaining the same size and shape but with a reversed orientation.
Conversely, the lesson also includes examples of shapes that have not been reflected correctly, providing a contrast that helps to deepen the students' understanding of the concept. To reinforce the learning objectives and give students the opportunity to practice their new skills, they are directed to workbook pages 214 to 215. Here, they can engage with exercises and activities that challenge them to identify and draw reflections of various shapes, solidifying their grasp of symmetry and reflection in a two-dimensional plane.
