The Mummy's Curse - Session 16 - Word Workshop

The "Word Workshop" is an educational activity designed to enhance vocabulary skills among KS2 students. It is part of "The Mummy's Curse" session 16, a series that combines language learning with an engaging theme. In this workshop, students are given a list of words and are tasked with exploring various aspects of each word. They are asked to define the word's meaning, use it in a sentence, and modify it by adding prefixes, suffixes, or changing its form. Additionally, they must identify synonyms and antonyms to broaden their understanding of the words in context.

Words such as 'acquaintance,' 'scarce,' and 'immaculate' are among those to be explored. For each word, students determine its word class, which could be a noun, verb, adjective, etc. The workshop encourages critical thinking and linguistic creativity, as students might turn 'acquaintance' into 'acquaintanceship' or find the opposite of 'temporary' to be 'permanent.' This hands-on approach to vocabulary building not only enriches students' word knowledge but also enhances their ability to use language effectively in both written and spoken forms.
