The 13-Storey Treehouse - Session 6 - Reading Comprehension
English Resource Description
In Session 6 of the 'The 13-Storey Treehouse' reading comprehension, students are tested on various details of the story through a series of questions. They are asked about the identity of Super Finger's sidekick and the rock concert where Super Finger lends a hand. The fate of the replacement sea-monkeys is also queried, as is Andy's feelings towards the monkeys. Additionally, pupils must recall how Andy and Terry manage to rid themselves of the monkey nuisance. The original purpose of the catapult that features in the story is another point of interest. To demonstrate their understanding of the session, students are tasked with writing a concise summary of no more than 50 words.
The exercise is designed to assess the students' comprehension skills, including their ability to recall specific details and summarize information. This session's questions encourage the children to think critically about the text and to express their understanding in a clear and succinct manner. The task of summarising the session in a very limited word count also challenges them to distil the essence of the story, focusing on key events and character actions.
