In the "My Kitchen" activity, students are encouraged to evaluate and enhance their descriptive writing skills by focusing on the portrayal of a messy kitchen scene. They are asked to read through their own work, identifying and underlining words and phrases that effectively convey the messiness of the kitchen. The task is to amplify this effect by adding more descriptive terms. The use of intensifiers such as 'very' is explored, with students considering alternative words like 'extremely', 'incredibly', 'exceptionally', or 'exceedingly' to strengthen their descriptions. They are also prompted to appreciate the use of onomatopoeia through peer feedback, discussing how specific words, such as 'clang', vividly capture the sounds within the kitchen.

The "On My Tray" activity focuses on teaching the use of commas in list writing. Students look at an illustration of a mother preparing for a peaceful bath by gathering breakfast items on a tray. They count and discuss the items, then practice writing them out as a list, first numbered and then in sentence form using commas. This exercise demonstrates the difference between various list formats and their practical applications. In "Pure Heaven", students engage in prediction and role-playing based on the story's events. They imagine what mischief the children might get up to while their mother seeks a brief respite in the bath. The activity encourages them to consider the consequences of the children's play and to express these ideas through a role-play exercise, followed by writing from the perspective of one of the characters, exploring the outcome of their unsupervised playtime.
