Max Maths, Year 4, Practice, Review of reading the time
Maths Resource Description
In the 'Max Maths' Year 4 curriculum, there's a practical exercise designed to help students review and reinforce their skills in reading time. This activity involves a series of clock faces, each showing a different time, which students are asked to translate into both a digital format and written words. The objective is for students to become proficient in interpreting the position of the hour and minute hands on an analogue clock and accurately representing this time in the two alternative formats.
For each of the clock faces labelled from (a) to (f), students are tasked with writing the corresponding time as it would appear on a digital clock, such as '3:45' or '8:10'. They must also express the time in full words, for example, 'quarter to four' or 'ten minutes past eight', to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of time-telling vocabulary. To support their learning and provide additional practice, students are directed to workbook pages 102 to 104, where they can find more exercises and examples to work through, ensuring they become confident in this essential life skill.
