Max Maths, Year 2, Try it, Volume (2)
Maths Resource Description
In the Max Maths Year 2 curriculum, students are introduced to the concept of volume through a hands-on, comparative activity. In one of the exercises, children are presented with a set of three glasses, labelled Glass A, Glass B, and Glass C, each containing different amounts of liquid. The task for the students is to observe and arrange these glasses in descending order based on the volume of liquid they contain, starting with the glass that holds the greatest volume and ending with the one that has the smallest.
Another engaging task involves a set of four flasks, each designated as Flask A, Flask B, Flask C, and Flask D. Here, the children are asked to arrange the flasks in ascending order according to the volume of liquid present in each. They must begin with the flask that has the smallest volume and progress towards the one with the greatest volume. These activities not only help students grasp the concept of volume but also encourage them to compare and order objects based on their capacity. To further solidify their understanding, students are directed to complete additional exercises and readings on pages 152 to 155 of their workbook.
