Ten a Day 8 Times Table
Maths Resource Description
The 'Ten a Day' exercise is designed to help children practise and reinforce their knowledge of the 8 times table. It's a simple yet effective daily activity where students aim to complete a column of multiplication questions within one minute. Each day from Monday to Friday has a different set of ten multiplication problems, starting with single-digit numbers multiplied by 8 and gradually including multiples of 10 and beyond. The goal is for the children to quickly recall and write down the correct answers, with each day providing a fresh challenge to ensure varied practice throughout the week.
At the end of each day's column, there is a place for the student to record their score out of ten, allowing them to track their progress and see improvements over time. The structure of the 'Ten a Day' activity not only aids in committing the 8 times table to memory but also helps to develop speed and accuracy in mental arithmetic. This tool is particularly useful for Key Stage 2 students, as it aligns with the mathematics curriculum and can be used both in the classroom and at home for consistent practice. The score section at the bottom acts as an immediate feedback mechanism for the child and the teacher or parent to monitor and celebrate the child's learning achievements.
