Money - Assessment
Maths Resource Description
The assessment provided is a series of questions designed to test a student's understanding and proficiency with money-related calculations. The tasks require the student to perform various operations such as adding, subtracting, and converting between pounds and pence. For example, one question asks the student to circle the amount of £4 and 50 pence from a given set. Another presents a scenario where Rosie has a certain amount of notes and coins, and the student must calculate the total sum of money she has. Further exercises involve real-life situations such as shopping, where Rosie must spend a specific amount on a present and the student must determine the coins she could have used and the remaining balance.
Additional questions on the assessment sheet include practical problems like adding the cost of a doughnut and a fairy cake using a given price list, and calculating the change from a £10 note when purchasing an item. There's also a problem where a student must figure out the individual cost of a chair and a stool based on the total cost and the fact that the chair is twice the price of the stool. Conversion questions are also included, such as converting pounds and pence into just pence, and vice versa. Towards the end of the assessment, students are asked to reflect on their confidence level with handling money, rating it on a scale from not confident to very confident. The assessment is designed to cover a range of skills, from basic arithmetic to more complex reasoning with money.
