Arithmetic Checklist and Assessment

The ArithmeCheck series provides a structured approach to assessing and improving arithmetic skills for students. The checklist is divided into different sections, each focusing on a specific area of mathematics. In the 'Place Value' section, students are challenged with tasks such as counting forwards from negative numbers, comparing and ordering large numbers, and rounding numbers to specified places. For example, they might be asked to round a number like 369,248 to the nearest 100 or to the nearest 10,000, or to compare decimal numbers to determine which is larger or smaller.

In the 'Addition and Subtraction' sections, students work on adding and subtracting large numbers, both whole and decimal, using mental and written methods. They might add numbers with more than four digits or subtract decimal numbers using efficient strategies. Multiplication tasks involve multiplying by multiples of 10 and using mental methods with known facts and place value. Division challenges include dividing large numbers and decimals by 10, 100, and 1000, as well as halving both decimal and whole numbers. The 'Fractions' section tests the ability to compare, order, add, and subtract fractions, while also solving problems involving percentage and decimal equivalents. Each section comes with an answer key to help students check their work and track their progress.
