Number 11 - CanDo Bonds

The CanDo Bonds activity set is designed to help children practice and master the concept of number bonds to 11 through a series of engaging and colourful exercises. The "Create it" section invites children to complete a series of dominoes, ensuring that the sum of the dots or numbers on each domino equals 11. They are then encouraged to "Colour it" by adding the two numbers on a character named Coco's wings and colouring her beak if the total sums up to 11. Additionally, they can "Join it" by colouring boxes on a grid to create a path that represents totals of 11.

In the "Jot it" section, children are prompted to write down various number sentences that all result in the sum of 11, such as 4 + 7 and 9 + 2. This is complemented by the "Snap it" activity, where they start with 11 cubes and snap off a certain number, then complete the bar model and corresponding number sentences. The "Solve it" part encourages problem-solving by asking children to draw a model for a given scenario and write as many number sentences as possible based on their part-part-whole model. Finally, the "Make it" section challenges children to quickly write down the twelve different pairs of numbers that combine to make the number 11. These exercises not only reinforce the children's understanding of number bonds but also integrate other mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, and the concept of part-part-whole relationships.
