Revise Words with 'ie' and 'ei' Presentation
English Resource Description
A comprehensive presentation by KS2Gems is designed to help Year 5 and Year 6 students master the spelling of words with the /i:/ sound that are spelt with 'ei' after the letter 'c'. The learning objective (LO) of the session is to ensure that students are able to accurately spell such words. The presentation includes a variety of instructional materials, such as a word list, spelling rules, and engaging activities that can be adapted to the specific needs of the class. These activities are suitable for whole class participation, using whiteboards for practice, and can be done individually, in pairs, or in small groups. The aim is to introduce, consolidate, and revise the spelling of these words in a dynamic and interactive manner.
The PowerPoint includes a spelling list with two sections, A and B, each containing words that follow the 'ei after c' rule, such as 'receive' and 'ceiling' from section A, and 'deceive' and 'receipt' from section B. To help students apply their knowledge, the presentation provides clues and sentences to work out the correct spelling of words, encouraging them to write their answers on whiteboards. Additionally, there is a task where students read a text and choose the correct spelling between 'ie' or 'ei', crossing out the incorrect option. This task not only tests their spelling skills but also reinforces their understanding of the rule. The correct answers are provided, ensuring that students can check their work and learn from any mistakes.
