The Explorer - Session 9 - Word Workshop
English Resource Description
The 'Word Workshop' is an educational activity designed to enhance vocabulary and language skills among KS2 students. In this session, learners are encouraged to explore the meanings, usage, and various forms of words. For instance, the word 'coax' might be presented, prompting students to identify its meaning, use it in a sentence, and modify it by adding prefixes or suffixes. They would also explore synonyms and antonyms to deepen their understanding of the word's context and its opposites.
Additional words such as 'recognise', 'conveniently', 'jutted', 'havoc', 'relief', 'comparison', 'radiated', 'communication', 'vibrating', 'vision', 'palpably', 'laden', 'forbidding', 'serrated', 'gingerly', and 'spectacular' are similarly dissected. For each term, students are asked to classify the word into its correct word class, such as noun, verb, adjective, or adverb. This comprehensive approach not only broadens the students' vocabulary but also enhances their grammatical knowledge and their ability to discern nuances in English language usage.
