Darwin's Dragons - Session 7 - Imagine
English Resource Description
In Session 7 of "Darwin's Dragons," students are invited to step into the shoes of Covington, a character from the narrative. They are encouraged to engage their creativity and critical thinking skills by formulating a plan of action for Covington. The task prompts them to consider what Covington's next move might be and how he might go about accomplishing his objectives. This exercise not only deepens their understanding of the character's motivations and challenges but also allows them to explore narrative development and decision-making from a first-person perspective.
The session continues to tap into the students' imagination and prediction skills by focusing on the characters Olive and Cliff, who are facing evacuation. Students are asked to speculate on the future of these characters, considering the possible outcomes and emotional journeys that Olive and Cliff might experience. This predictive exercise enhances students' engagement with the story and encourages them to think about cause and effect within a plot, as well as the impact of events on characters' lives. By personalizing their responses with their names, students take ownership of their ideas and predictions, making the learning experience more meaningful.
