Brightstorm - Session 17 - Reading Comprehension

In "Brightstorm," a reading comprehension activity aimed at KS2 students, pupils delve into chapters 21 and 22 to enhance their understanding of the text. The questions are designed to probe the students' grasp of character emotions and narrative developments. For instance, they are asked to interpret why Arthur appears happy and the reason behind Parthena's sorrowful cry. The exercise also challenges students to deduce why Arthur suspects an attempt to conceal the crew's bodies and to understand the significance of Tuyok's advice to 'listen to it well.'

Further questions explore character perspectives, such as inferring what Arthur's feeling of being 'the size of an insect' conveys to the reader and the motivations behind Harriet's decision to enter the Violetta first.
