Brightstorm - Session 11 - Word Workshop

The Brightstorm Word Workshop is an educational tool designed to enhance vocabulary skills for KS2 students. In Session 11, students are given a list of words to explore in depth. For each word, they are tasked with identifying its meaning(s), using it in a sentence, and modifying it by adding prefixes, suffixes, changing its number or tense. Additionally, they must list synonyms and antonyms to further understand the word's context and usage.

The words covered in this session range from 'replenished' to 'disaster', each with its own set of exercises. For example, with the word 'replenished', students would determine its meaning, such as 'to fill up again', use it in a sentence like "The stream replenished the parched land", and then modify it, perhaps to 'replenishing' or 'replenishes'. They would also brainstorm synonyms such as 'restocked' and antonyms like 'depleted'. This comprehensive approach not only builds vocabulary but also reinforces grammatical knowledge, making it an effective learning session for young students.
