Brightstorm - Session 2 - Reading Comprehension
English Resource Description
In the second session of "Brightstorm" focused on reading comprehension, students delve into the second chapter of the story, answering questions that test their understanding of the narrative. One of the questions asks students to explain why Mistress Poacher's behaviour is considered unusual, encouraging them to think critically about character actions and motivations. Other questions cover key details such as the destinations of Eudora Vane and Mr Brightstorm's expeditions, the name of Eudora Vane's ship, and the reasons behind their landing on the Third Continent.
Students are also asked to identify the creature that posed a threat to Brightstorm's crew, and to consider the reaction of the audience to Eudora's recounting of events. These questions aim to enhance students' comprehension skills by having them recall specific details and infer the emotions and responses of characters within the story. The session culminates with a challenge to concisely summarise the second chapter in no more than 50 words, which tests their ability to distil the main points of the narrative while demonstrating their grasp of the chapter's key elements and plot developments.
