Pulse rates - Investigation instructions
Science Resource Description
This investigation is designed to explore how various activities affect our pulse rate. To begin, participants are instructed to pair up and brainstorm at least four different scenarios that might influence pulse rate. These situations could range from resting to engaging in physical activity. Once the pairs have their scenarios, they must decide on the methodology for accurately measuring and recording pulse rates during these different activities. After initial planning, pairs are encouraged to join with another duo to exchange and discuss their ideas.
With a group of four now formed, the next step is to integrate the collective ideas into a cohesive plan that takes everyone's initial thoughts into consideration. An important aspect of the planning process is determining the size of the sample population for the investigation to ensure reliable results. The groups are then expected to present their investigation strategies, remaining open to feedback and willing to refine their approach based on the suggestions of others. The ultimate goal is to reach a well-supported conclusion explaining the variations in pulse rate in relation to different activities. The provided support sheet will aid in documenting the outcomes of the investigation. Additionally, understanding the heart's function and its significance, as well as the link between heartbeat and exercise, will be crucial elements of the research.
