Cops and robbers - What do you know about the planets?

The "Cops and robbers" activity is an engaging and interactive exercise designed to test and expand pupils' knowledge about the solar system, specifically focusing on the Sun, Earth, Moon, and other planets. Initially, pupils are given two minutes to jot down everything they can recall about these celestial bodies. This phase encourages them to draw upon their own knowledge, tapping into what they've learned in previous lessons or from personal interest in astronomy.

Following this, the activity shifts into a fast-paced knowledge exchange, where pupils have 60 seconds to 'steal' information from their peers. They are allowed to view the answers of up to three classmates and add any new information they learn to the 'stolen knowledge' section of their table. This part of the activity not only makes learning fun but also promotes collaboration and sharing of information. Each plausible statement they record is awarded two points, incentivising accuracy and relevant contributions. The entire activity is allocated a total of fifteen minutes, striking a balance between quick recall and peer-to-peer learning, all wrapped up in an entertaining 'cops and robbers' theme.
