Extinction - Extinct Species Cards
Science Resource Description
The Extinct Species Cards collection is an informative compilation of various prehistoric creatures that once roamed the Earth, categorized by their respective periods, classes, locations, and other characteristics. For instance, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, a towering predator of the Cretaceous Period, was a member of the Theropod class and inhabited the forests of North America. It was a carnivore that stood at 8 meters high, with a length of 9 meters, and weighed a massive 8 tonnes. Similarly, the Ankylosaurus, which shared the same period, was also found in North American forests. However, this Ankylosauridae class herbivore measured 2.2 meters in height, 8 meters in length, and matched the T-Rex in weight at 8 tonnes.
Other notable entries include the Carnotaurus and the Brachiosaurus, both from the Cretaceous, but with the former being a coastal river dweller from Argentina and the latter a forest inhabitant from the Jurassic Period in North America. The Carnotaurus was a carnivorous Theropod standing 3 meters tall and 9 meters long, weighing 1.35 tonnes, while the Brachiosaurus, a member of the Brachiosauridae class, reached heights of 12 meters and lengths of 21 meters, with a substantial weight of 58 tonnes. The collection spans a wide range of species, from the desert-roaming Velociraptor to the oceanic giants like the Mosasaur and the Plesiosaur, as well as the enormous birds of the past, such as the Gastornis and Pelagornis. Each card details the creatures' diets, habitats, and physical dimensions, providing a snapshot into the diverse and fascinating world of extinct species.
