Seasons Review - Presentation
Science Resource Description
The 'Seasons Review' presentation is an interactive and educational session that aims to deepen students' understanding of Earth's seasonal changes. The lesson begins by posing three key questions to the students: Can they name the seasons and place them in the correct order? Can they describe the typical events and changes that occur in each season? And, can they associate a particular month with a specific season? These questions set the stage for what the students are expected to learn and review during the presentation.
As part of the lesson, students are asked to reflect on the seasons they are reviewing and to consider what measurements they have taken since the start of an experiment, likely related to weather patterns. They are prompted to think about what steps would be necessary to complete their report, such as taking measurements in August. The presentation encourages students to use their records of rainfall and temperature to create a graph, with the x-axis representing each month and the y-axis showing the recorded data, using stickers to visually represent the information. Further questions guide the students to analyse this data, asking which month was the wettest, in which season it occurred, how to calculate total rainfall for a season, which month had the most sunlight, the coldest month, and if there was a trend in cloudiness. The session culminates with the task of writing a report about the seasons, answering questions about the number of seasons, naming a month for each, and describing the changes they observed. The presentation not only reinforces the students' knowledge of weather and seasons but also integrates data handling and analytical skills.
