What does the Year 2 scheme cover?
PZAZ provides Year 2 teachers with all of the essential tools to deliver outstanding Science lessons, ensuring they have all of the resources necessary to plan and achieve positive outcomes for their pupils. With each lesson designed to take place over two weeks, scientific knowledge builds gradually over time to become firmly embedded. This approach not only fosters a deep appreciation for exploring the world around them but also gives pupils a lasting enthusiasm for Science learning that stays with them well beyond their primary education.
Animals, including Humans
Explore the life cycle of animals and humans while distinguishing between wants and needs crucial for survival throughout this unit. Gain insights into various food types, categorise them into distinct food groups and explore classification methods. Delve into the fascinating realm of chemical reactions occurring in our stomachs and understand the transformations our bodies undergo during exercise.
Uses of Everyday Materials
Embark on an exploration of how materials undergo changes when subjected to different forces in this unit and evaluate the properties of various materials to determine their suitability for specific purposes. Engage in investigations regarding floating and sinking, and delve into the diverse designs and functions of boats. Scrutinise the advantages of particular materials while considering their environmental impact.
Livings Things and Their Habitats
Use ‘MRS GREN’ within this unit to determine whether something is alive, dead or never been alive. Understand the characteristics of living things and find out what plants and animals have in common and what is different about them. Investigate diverse habitats and delve into how certain animals employ camouflage or adaptation strategies for survival.
