In the heart of a unique forest crafted from discarded materials, an old man resides amongst the metallic foliage and whimsical creatures of his own creation. This forest, burgeoning with tins, coils, and peculiar metal fauna, stands in stark contrast to the lush greenery of his dreams. The old man's feelings are a poignant blend of disappointment and acceptance, as the reality of his tin forest diverges from the verdant paradise he envisioned. Students are encouraged to empathise with the old man's emotions and articulate how his dreams have been reshaped by the reality of his surroundings. They are tasked to write a letter to a friend, detailing the evolution of his feelings from yesterday to today, using 'because' to provide reasons for this emotional transition.

Amidst the clinking and clattering of this metallic wonderland, the old man encounters a feline figure unlike any other—a tin cat. This activity challenges students to use expanded noun phrases to compare the tin cat to a living feline, highlighting the contrasts and similarities. While a real cat boasts soft fur and agile movements, the tin cat presents a starkly different aesthetic with its metallic composition. Yet, both may share quintessential feline traits, such as pointed ears or a poised stance. Students are prompted to describe the tin cat in vivid detail, considering its appearance, sounds, texture, and movements. Furthermore, the old man's delight is palpable when a real bird alights beside its tin counterpart, prompting him to chuckle at the juxtaposition.
