The Big Question Map is an educational framework that outlines a series of key questions to guide the learning of primary school students across different year groups and scientific units. In Year 1, the focus is on understanding the characteristics of the four seasons, the materials everyday objects are made from, the body parts of animals, and the identification of plants. Questions such as "What is it like in each season?" and "Do animals all have the same parts?" are designed to engage young minds in exploring the natural world and the materials around them.
As students advance to Year 2, the questions delve deeper into the life processes and physical properties of materials, such as "How do humans stay healthy?" and "What features do animals have that allow them to thrive in their environment?" By Year 3, the curriculum expands to include topics such as rocks, forces, light, and plant biology, with questions like "Why are there different rocks?" and "What is a shadow?" By Year 6, the questions have evolved to tackle more complex scientific concepts such as electricity, evolution, and inheritance, asking "How do humans use electricity?" and "What happens to species over a long time?"
