Pictophones for Phase 1 Aspects
English Resource Description
As part of the resources for teaching phonics in the initial stages, a series of pictophones are provided to aid in the learning process. These pictophones are visual aids that combine images with words to help young learners associate sounds with corresponding objects or characters. For instance, one pictophone features a 'yak with a pack', which is a clever way to blend the image of a yak carrying a pack with the sound it represents. This visual representation helps children to remember the phonetic sound and the word associated with the picture.
Another example from the set includes a 'vulture into culture', where the image of a vulture is used to help children understand the sound transition into the word 'culture'. Similarly, there are other engaging pictophones such as a 'bear with long hair', an 'ear leading a cheer', an 'ant in pink pants', an 'oon on the moon', and a 'wizard with a lizard'. Each of these pictophones is designed to make the learning experience more interactive and enjoyable for children, reinforcing their understanding of sounds in a fun and memorable way. These resources form part of the All Aboard Phonics - Phase 1 Teacher Manual, which provides comprehensive guidance for educators teaching early phonics.
