Fielding game - Cricket
Physical Education Resource Description
A cricket fielding game is an engaging activity designed for teams of 3 or 4 players, aimed at enhancing their fielding skills. The setup involves placing stumps or a target at one end of a designated playing area. The objective for each team is to manoeuvre the ball close enough to the stumps to attempt a direct hit on the target. Players must adhere to the rule that they cannot move while holding the ball; if the ball is dropped, possession switches to the opposing team. This rule encourages precision and careful handling of the ball during play.
To further challenge the players and develop their fielding abilities, a progression is introduced in the form of a 'no fielder zone'. This area compels players to execute throws from a greater distance, thus improving their throwing accuracy and strength. Such modifications to the game not only make it more dynamic but also allow players at different skill levels to push their boundaries and refine their cricket fielding techniques.
