Max Maths, Year 5, Learn together, Review of units of length, mass and volume (2)
Maths Resource Description
In the 'Max Maths, Year 5' curriculum, students are encouraged to engage with a practical exercise that reinforces their understanding of various units of measurement, including length, mass, and volume. The exercise, titled 'Let's Practise', requires students to convert between different metric units. They are presented with a series of conversion tasks that ask them to translate kilograms into grams, millilitres into litres, kilometres into metres, millimetres into centimetres, litres into millilitres, millimetres into metres, metres into centimetres, and grams into kilograms. This exercise is designed to solidify their grasp of the metric system and the relationships between its units.
The conversion tasks are set out in a clear, straightforward manner, making it easy for students to follow. For example, they are asked to convert 2 kilograms into grams, 4,000 millilitres into litres, and so on. Each question is formatted to prompt the students to fill in the blanks with the correct converted values. To assist with these conversions, a reference table is provided, listing the units of measurement such as millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm), millilitres (ml), litres (l), and their respective larger or smaller counterparts. The workbook pages 179 to 186 are recommended for additional practice and to reinforce the concepts covered in this exercise.
