Max Maths, Year 5, Practice, Number patterns
Maths Resource Description
In the "Max Maths" practice exercises for Year 5, students are encouraged to strengthen their understanding of number patterns by counting forwards or backwards in various increments. The "Let's Try It" section presents a series of sequences that require the students to fill in the missing numbers by applying the given counting rules.
For example, in the first task, students must count in increments of 5 starting from 12. The sequence given is 12, 17, 22, and they must continue this pattern to find the next numbers in the series. In a similar vein, the second task involves counting backwards in 25s from 75, starting with 75, 50, 25, 0, and then determining the subsequent numbers by subtracting 25 each time. The "Let's Practise" section offers a variety of counting exercises, such as counting back from 650 by 200s, counting back from 2,450 by 50s, counting back from 150 by 50s, counting on from 13,903 by 1,000s, and counting on from 72,100 by 100s. These exercises are designed to improve students' numerical fluency and their ability to recognise and continue numerical sequences.
