Max Maths, Year 4, Learn together, Review of odd and even numbers (2)
Maths Resource Description
In the Year 4 Max Maths programme, students are given a colourful and engaging way to review the concept of odd and even numbers. Samir, a character in the lesson, has completed a chart with 100 numbers, categorising them based on their divisibility by 2. He has coloured the squares pink for all the numbers that can be grouped exactly in pairs, which are identified as even numbers. The remaining numbers, which cannot be grouped into exact pairs, are termed as odd numbers. This visual representation helps students quickly identify the two different types of numbers.
The interactive exercise 'Let's Try It' encourages students to apply their understanding by circling the even numbers and underlining the odd numbers from a given list that includes 2, 6, 18, 21, and 55, among others. To further reinforce the concept, 'Let's Practise' prompts students to fill in the blanks, recalling that even numbers end with the digits 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8, while odd numbers end with the digits 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9. This clear distinction helps students easily determine the parity of a number. The exercise underscores the definition of an even number as one that can be divided exactly by 2, and students are directed to workbook pages to continue their practice.
