Max Maths, Year 4, Practice, Comparing and ordering numbers up to 10000 (2)
Maths Resource Description
In Max Maths, Year 4 students are given tasks to enhance their understanding of comparing and ordering numbers up to 10,000. In one activity, they are asked to find a number that fits between two given numbers, for example, a number greater than 3,046 and smaller than 3,050. This task encourages pupils to think critically about number sequences and the relative values of numbers within a range. Another exercise utilises number lines to help students visualise and calculate numbers that are incrementally greater or less than those provided. For instance, they are prompted to identify a number that is 10 more than 8,150 and one that is 10 less than 8,180, as well as to find numbers 100 more than 9,150 and 100 less than 9,500.
The practice book also includes a Maths Challenge that adds a practical application to the concept of ordering numbers. Students must assist a character named Han in arranging scattered movie tickets in ascending order, starting with the smallest number. The numbers on the tickets range from 4,033 to 7,006, and this task helps to reinforce the concept of numerical order. Further exercises and explanations on these topics can be found in the workbook pages specified for additional practice and mastery of the concepts.
